Outdoor clothing appropriate to the time of year is recommended. Casual outdoor clothing such as walking trousers, light weight trousers etc are great, jeans are not the best if the weather turns wet. Always bring a waterproof coat just in case of wet weather. In the colder months, gloves, hats etc are a good idea and plenty of layers to keep you warm.
Good substantial footwear is very important. Walking boots, wellingtons, strong trainers are the best. You need footwear which supports you and offers you grip, as some of the terrain can be wet and muddy. Fashion boots and plimsolls are not appropriate, neither are sandals or opened toes shoes.
